CephsInAction Training School – Cephs Biology and Care (CBC2015)

CBC2015 Training School is open to people who perform the four functions, as stated in article 23 of the Directive 2010/63/EU: carrying out procedures on animals; designing procedures and projects; taking care of animals; killing animals.
CBC2015 is part of the Cephalopod Biology and Care Training Program and is designed to comply the requirements of the “working document on the development of a common education and training framework to fulfil the requirements under the Directive 2010/63/EU” and FELASA recommendations for the accreditation of Education and Training courses in Laboratory Animal Science.
The FA1301 Cephs Biology and Care 2015 Training School covers practical implications for research, cephalopod maintenance, care and welfare assessment and biological information, in compliance with Directive 2010/63/EU.
CBC2015 course program is designed to provide 40 hours of training (i.e. lectures, seminars, practical training, etc.) including Core Modules and Function Specific (Prerequisite) Modules – Function A: “carrying out procedures on animals”
CBC2015 Trainees have to pass an individual assessment of the learning outcomes. The final results are now published and available here.
A limited number grants has been provided thanks to the COST Action FA1301. Additional grants and/or support provided by CephRes.

Modules
According to the Working document on the development of a Common Education and Training Framework CBC2015 will deliver the modules indicated in the table below. Faculty of the CBC2015 is composed by experts in fields of topics to be delivered as part of the modular scheme and with large experience in this type of specialistic training and educated to the principles stated in the Directive 2010/63/EU. CBC Training program is committed towards to accomplish EU guidance in responding to a need for harmonisation and a common framework to ensure competence, and to facilitate free movement of personnel.
At the end of the Course each Trainee will pass an individual assessment of the learning outcomes (final examination). Successful participants are awarded a certificate, now a requirement according to the revised European Directive, which demonstrates competence in working with cephalopods – as laboratory animals – for research purposes.

Financial Support
The COST Action FA1301 offers a a limited number grants to support Trainees to the CBC2015 Training School.
People asking for financial support should provide a strong case in their Motivation Letter (see registration form), Early Stage Researchers and students will be privileged.
People originating from COST countries, approved NNC institutions and European RTD organizations are eligible to COST FA1301 Grants.
Please, remember that, according to the COST Vademecum, the grant is provided as reimbursement after the completion of the Training School.
Venue
Venue of the CBC2015 Training School is Vico Equense – a very well known location to ‘cephalopod workers’ -, a small coastal town belonging to the Metropolitan City of Naples that finds its historical roots back to the 7th century BC. Nowadays Vico is a popular destination for tourists for nearby famous locations and the natural spas Srajo.
Hotel Sporting, a recently renewed four-star hotel with private beach, is the seat of the 2015 edition of the Cephalopod Biology and Care Training School. The hotel is located in the centre of the town Vico Equense and offers to all its guest a wonderful view on the Gulf of Naples and the Vesuvius.
Registration & Fees
Registration to CBC2015 Training School is open and required.
In registering make sure that all sections are completed. Incomplete forms will be not considered and returned to applicant.
Registration is on first-come, first-served basis; please consider that SPACE IS LIMITED!
Thera are two registration fees: one including lodging and all meals, and one for people that want to provide lodging on their own.
– FULL REGISTRATION course fee is Euro 800,00

Accommodation: 4stars hotel double room (sharing) from Sunday October 25 2015 (IN – arrival afternoon) to Saturday October 31 2015 (OUT morning departure)
breakfast and dinners from Monday to Friday (dinner on the arrival day not provided)
People that want to have independent, single accommodation should add 120,00 euro to the full registration fee.

Full refund of the Course Fee will be provided in case of cancelling 7 days before commencement of the Course. In case of cancelling on a later date or no-show Euro 150.00 will be invoiced.
For people cancelling and those that will not-show and that selected and agreed for the Full Registration Fee consider to add 150 Euro to the above cancellation fee as single day accommodation full board, including taxes.
The cancellation fee will be invoiced.
